What a Proxy Does Hide
Your real IP address from the target website. When you use a web proxy, the website sees the proxy's IP instead of yours. This prevents the site from knowing your actual location and ISP.
What a Proxy Does NOT Hide
Your browsing activity from your ISP (they can see you're using a proxy). DNS queries may still go to your ISP's servers. WebRTC can leak your real IP even through a proxy. Browser fingerprinting can still track you.
The WebRTC Leak Problem
WebRTC is a browser feature that can bypass proxy settings and reveal your real IP. This is a common issue with web proxies. Disable WebRTC in your browser or use tools that block it to prevent this leak.
Anonymity Levels
Proxies offer different anonymity levels. Transparent proxies reveal that you're using a proxy. Anonymous proxies hide your IP but reveal that a proxy is being used. Elite proxies hide both your IP and the fact that you're using a proxy.
How to Verify Your IP Is Truly Hidden
Use the IP Leak Test tool to check if your real IP is exposed through any channel. Run both the DNS Leak Test and WebRTC Leak Test. Compare the results with your actual IP from the What Is My IP tool.
