System Proxy via Network Settings
Go to System Settings > Network > Select your connection > Details > Proxies tab. Toggle the proxy type (HTTP, HTTPS, SOCKS). Enter server address and port. Click OK. This applies to all macOS apps.
Terminal Configuration
Set proxy via Terminal: networksetup -setwebproxy Wi-Fi proxy.example.com 8080. For SOCKS: networksetup -setsocksfirewallproxy Wi-Fi proxy.example.com 1080. Replace Wi-Fi with your network name.
Safari-Specific Settings
Safari uses the system proxy settings. No separate configuration needed. If you change system proxy, Safari follows automatically.
Verifying the Proxy
After setup, visit the IP Checker page. Your displayed IP should match the proxy server. Also test with the HTTP Headers Checker to confirm proxy headers are present.
Clearing Proxy Settings
To remove proxy: System Settings > Network > Details > Proxies > Toggle all proxy types to Off. Or via Terminal: networksetup -setwebproxystate Wi-Fi off.
